Yes, interesting read. I'm looking at replacing my coach batteries with Lithium and while LiFePO4 cells (used in vehciles) are safer than the lithium chemistry used in computer devices (susuallyLiCoO2) the quality of the companion PCM (battery control module) also called Battery Management System (BMS), is a critical item for me. I would not purchase a solution with an unproven or cheap knockoff BMS. That said, if a reputable company properly designed and tested an end to end solution with the proper protection around these "used" cells and the economics made sense I would consider it. My guess is once properly designed, manufactured and tested (with electrical and mechanical protection) you would be just as well off buying new from a reputable company.
