1999 Contessa Door Lock Switch Function and Wiring
« on: May 01, 2021, 01:02:17 AM »
After a year I’m now trying to reassemble the dash. I have lost the photo of the switch wiring. Very frustrating. What is this switch for? 6 terminals (one hot, one ground, two blue spliced together and two green spliced together). It’s a momentary switch with a light that turns on with the headlights.

Mike the switch is your bags door lock switch.
The red and black wires are the (red) 12 volt positive and ( black) negitive ground they good to the two centre terminals of the switch
The green and blue wires are the wires which run to the baggage door lock motors they connect to the four remaining terminals on the switch one green and one blue on each end of the switch just make sure the greens and blues are on opposite corners of the switch.

      Blue.     Green
      Red.       Black
      Green.   Blue

The switch works by reversing the polarity to the green and blue wires.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much.  Very enlightening but now for the stupid question. What baggage doors are supposed to have electronic locks? None of my doors lock electronically.

You should be able to open and lock all your keyed compartment doors with that switch.  I rarely use mine, or come to think of it never, but when it is wired up you should be able to hear it opening the doors.

Another thing to look into. It doesn’t work but no matter.

Mike as Carl pointed out all the storage bags down below have electric actuators to lock and unlock them if you open one of these doors you will find a green and a blue wire running from the top of the bay ceiling in a black flexible conduit into each of the doors .
The blue and green wires come from that dash mounted switch to an electrical junction box mounted to the ceiling  of the
storage bags between the frame rails just rear of the water tank from there they bongo each of the storage bay doors to operate the actuator motors to lock and unlock the doors.

Hope this helps

Thank you very much for the detail.  I'm uncomfortable with things that don't work and will get to it eventually.  I'm currently at the end of a complete overhaul of the interior (floors, ceilings, walls, cabinets)
