Power problems
« on: May 23, 2021, 09:43:38 PM »
The saga continues.  In prep for our first trip this year I went out to test the generator...nothing. No click. Not humm.  Tried to start the coach.  Completely dead.  Threw the multi meter on the chassis batteries...5.6 volts.  House batteries are fully charged.  Coach has been plugged in all winter.  So I’m guessing echo charger has taken a dump.  How do I test the echo charger and assuming that it is bad, should I replace with another echo charger?  Is there a better fix now?

Side note, over the winter my whole coach surge protector dropped the neutral and caused some problems with 120/240 system but at the rime, chassis was fine.  Not sure if the current battery problem is some residual problem  from the Surgegaurd.

Thanks in advance.

Follow up. My current chassis batteries  have  1000 CCA and 1170 CA.  The exact same battery available now has 950 CCA and 1170 CA.  Will a 50CCA reduction matter much?

Adam,
In cold weather or if the battery voltage is down somewhat it will make a difference. You should be able to find 1000 CCA units without much problem for about the same $.
