You will need:

1> An inverter/charger that will meet your demands.  We have a Xantrex Freedom PSW 3000w inverter.

2> An Auto Gen Start (AGS) unless the one you have is compatible with the new inverter/charger.

3> A Remote Panel unless the one you have is compatible with the new inverter/charger.

When we had to replace our Xantrex Trace PSW 2500w inverter, we also had to buy a new AGS and Remote Panel.  I believe the total cost, including installation, was about $3,600 for the inverter, AGS, and Remote Panel.

What is the make of your existing inverter and what is wrong with it that would require replacement.

    William,
From my experience with inverter/chargers, I believe a Magnum MS-2000 is your best choice if you are replacing a Xantrex or a obsolete Prosine inverter/charger. Just a few reasons are as follows: 1- The Magnum is almost bullet-proof and can survive all the hostile environment of a motorhome and customer abuse. It will provide 3 stage charging of your house batteries, pure sine wave 120 volt power for all present day electronics in your coach, easy to install and a remote RC-50 panel that is easy to understand. Don't waste your money on AGS non-sense unless you are living in your coach and are on "life-support". Auto gen start (AGS) causes so much confusing understanding for the average guy with such a limited benefit. Best price out there is E-marine. Hope this helps, Fred

William,
Fred meant IMarine, not EMarine.  https://www.imarineusa.com/
I can confirm the price comment as I just  purchased a pure sine wave unit to replace my functioning modified sine wave unit as my Samsung residential reefer let me know it didn't like the modified sine wave by blowing the control board. Price was $50 cheaper than nearest competitor with free shipping.

If your sure your old inverter is toast then I agree with the others the Magnum sine wave inverter is your best bet.
Here is a replacement chart to help you pic a direct replacement.

William - Frankly, I think it's more important to get the correct size inverter for your needs, be that a 1500w, 2000w, 2500w, or 3000w.  Obviously, it should produce a Pure Sine Wave (PSW) current for many of today's fussy electronic devices and it needs to be "balanced" with the size of your coach's house battery bank.  Whether it's a Magnum or Xantrex or Victron manufactured inverter is about as important as drinking Coors or Bud, IMO.  I got a Xantrex because that's what my installer recommended.

William,
I too am having some inverter trouble.  Most of mine is in the understanding of the book and settings along the lines of ….huh…what?
IMHO you get the best unit your budget allows.  My modified sine wave from 2002 just ate up electronics.
The Magnum MS2812 is a 5 stage charger so I believe easier on the batteries.  It produces 23 amp AC as long as your batteries hold up.  It also has a 3 year warranty parts and labor.
Camp World has them on sale for $1999.00 but check around.
You may have the Silverleaf and if so there may be an auto gen start on it already.  It is handy if your power goes out while you are away and you are running any a/c etc especially on limited batteries.
