Hydraulic Pump
« on: August 09, 2021, 08:47:14 AM »
Found a small leak in the gasket in the middle of the pump unit.  Not sure how serious it is yet.  Seems to be leaking ATF not Hydraulic fluid so far.
Opinions? Please click on picture to enlargeā€¦ TY

It's not uncommon to find things leaking.
I would just monitor the size of the leak and not worry about repairing it until a "puddle" starts to form on the ground after parking Coach. A small drip and a wet housing is not a big concern. Of course its best to make repairs on your schedule and not somewhere on the road. But the chances of this catastrophically failing is very small. It will just get worse over time. IMO.

Be sure to monitor the fluid levels in your transmission and hydraulic system. It's hard to be sure which is seal leaking (PTO or Pump), as they are both the same color fluids (at least on my Coach they are).

Keith, When I bought this coach the PTO gasket to the pump was leaking just like yours. It's a easy fix wash off all that dirt and oil get a new gasket remove the pump (2) bolts pop on the new gasket and bolt her up. You will loose a little bit of trans fluid and also that hydraulic pump is a bit heavy, I used a strap to hold it up. Monaco used a really thin cheap gasket for this, I replaced mine with a power steering gasket for a Detroit Diesel series 60 gasket DDE23516101 which is bit thicker no more leaks.

Did yours have the hole on the edge of the casting?

Misery loves company; Mine's leaking similar to yours, Keith. I'll have my mechanic swap out that gasket that Lee mentions when we do annual maint next. Add it to the list.
