Microwave

We have a 1999 Beaver Contessa. The microwave went kaput. Our current microwave (have a hunch all were back then) is a Sharp model R-1850-A. Does anyone know what this unit can be replaced with? Hoping to get an easy fit replacement. Thank you

Bill,
Suggest you do a search for "microwave" or "sharp" here on the Forum. There are a number of posts regarding microwave replacements. Sharp and GE appeared to be the most common replacement units.

I replaced mine with a Sharp R-1874. It was an exact fit replacement and even used the exact mounting plate as the original. The New one is a stainless model where the old one was black plastic, besides that they are very similar. My old unit still worked but the plastic face was starting to break and fall off.
Sometimes you have to look for the 1874's but l found one on Amazon. I have also seen them from others just by searching the model number.

Thank you Carl. I appreciate the information. In my googling I came across the R-1874......however there was R1874, 1874F, 1874T - do you happen to know the difference? Do you recall the one you bought?
Thnx again, Bill

I honestly do not know the differences. I would suspect it is probably something like exterior colors, but that is just a guess.

We just replaced one. The R1874 will work no matter the last letter. Could only find a plastic front, but it fits the old mounting. One thing you probably need to know is that the unit not only has screws holding it up (on top) but have a rail in the back. When you remove the screws, have a helper hold the MW in place as it will tilt forward and hang up on the back. Good luck.

Roy,
An installer trick is to use the box on the stove or counter below and use it as a support shelf.
