Rick,
In addition to Eric's sources, there is a comprehensive write-up on step maintenance in Common Problems. (BAC Website, Technical, Common Problems.

    Rick,
Another common trouble location is the green 10 gage ground wire. It is the only exposed connection to the frame and is subject to road moisture and salt residue. Some technicians butt splice into this wire when replacing the step module rather than replacing the eyelet and self-tapping bolt. As Steve suggested, please read the comprehensive step trouble shooting guide under "common problems".

I hade the same thing happen to me when I was leaving a friends house. The step decided to stop working. I had to replace the motor. I think I ordered one from Amazon. There were numbers on the old motor that I used to identify a replacement.
