Air Leveling Intermittant Problem
« on: November 27, 2023, 07:20:13 PM »
Have Valid air only leveling. Replaced non-functioning key pad in early September. Seemed to work normally. In early Oct went out to take coach in for service and found coach listing severely to right side. (Think I left system in Travel mode). Fired up engine, pressed travel mode and system responded normally. Had shop check for air leaks and found rear drive axle bags leaking. No other leaks detected. Replaced all 4 bags. Brought coach home in early Nov and parked in Travel mode. About the 10th of Nov I raised all 4 corners using Valid system to inspect something under coach. Had jack under frame also. Removed jack and left coach raised. (Manual Vaid mode). About 2-3 days later found coach listing to left side. Started coach and leveled using Auto mode. A week later came out and found coach again listing to right side. Since Nov 10th I’ve been in the shop every day so list is happening relatively quickly. The auxiliary compressor is working at normal on/off frequency.
Called Vald as I suspect the new control pad. They disagree and tell me I’ve got an air leak. I don’t see how an air leak significant enough to deflate all 5 bags randomly on 1 side or the other, but not both, can occur randomly and otherwise cause all bags to stay inflated for significant periods of time.
Any ideas?

Steve
I'm inclined to agree with you .
I believe your Valid air leveling system uses separate ( six pack type) valves for the front and rear suspension systems and the only part that ties them together is the controller.
Does the system sag to one side or the other without exhausting the air tanks or does the aux compressor keep the tanks topped up and the vehicle still loses air on one side or the other?

To confirm your suspicions level the system and unplug the controller to see what happens

Eric,
I'm going to unplug the controller but currently want to  see how long it will hold until it occurs again with the controller engaged. Will check tanks at that time. Rear tank leaks down per gauge but aux compressor keeps bags inflated. Neither I or shop have been able to ID leak source. (Wish I had a pit).  In any case when it sags, the front bags are also deflated on sagging side.
Thx, Steve

Steve
It's my understanding that the Valid system in auto level goes to sleep after leveling and then wakes up at a pre set time to relevel.
Is it possible that the relevel setting is not set or set too far apart or maybe the compressor is not activated ?
I believe the relevel intervals can be set from the touch pad for a 15 minutes to 8 hours interval.

Thx! Most of the air lines are mounted up against the coach floor making it next to impossible for one laying on the ground to reach them, much less get any spray on them. How do you do it? Guess i could use a garden sprayer??
