engine block heater
« on: November 27, 2023, 09:58:05 PM »
We have a 2005 Monterey 36' coach with a C9
the block heater plugs in under the bed
the receptacle went bad so I replaced it with another new gfi
Now there is still no heat being made
I checked the plug with a 1500 watt hair dryer to make sure there was no issue there, power is there
I am looking to find out where the block heater is located and if it requires draining out the engine coolant for a replacement or if there is another thing that could be the problem

The block heat cord is usually the weak link they usually burn out near the heater itself .
Unplug the cord and check both the heating element and the cord with an ohm meter .
Normally the antifreeze will have to be drained in order to replace the block heater element from the block.

Hope this helps

Does your Monterey have the Aquahot (Hydrohot) with the engine heat option?  If it does, in my opinion, that is a better option for warming the engine in cold weather.
