Follow Roy's install to the letter!
Only thing different is where my headlight breaker is located. Mine is on the CB strip above and to the left instead of the right of the solenoid and eighth one from the top.

Lights are BRIGHTER!!! :)

Hey thanks Mark for the clarification.
The comment as I understood in the original "do" on this subject made it seem as though "multiplexed coaches" were a "horse of a different color" all together.  Obviousely not so.

You can drive the coach at night with only the chassis batteries on and the coach batteries off. So it stands to reason that the placement of the beaker is the only issue.

If there is another issue, hope somebody chimes in!!

It has been a year now, and about 6500 miles, since I put in the halogen lights.  Mine are always on with the ignition, as daytime lights are mandatory in Canada.  So if there was going to be an issue, I would have already had that unpleasant experience.  I still wouldn't have the old sealed beams.

Keith, some light is better than suddenly no lights, and my switch took a couple of years to fail (melt).  But if you've driven a lot with no problem, perhaps your equipment is tough enough.

Leah, do you see the need to do this?  I think Beaver already installed headlight relays in our 08s.

Good question, just trying to be pro-active, I guess.  Don't do much night driving.  In fact the only time I recall driving at night was in the AZ mountains, being followed by a tow truck driver wanting to make sure I got to where I was going after the @#$% Cat derated and shut me down.  I was so nervous, all I remember about lights then was that my low beams sure didn't seem very bright.  Maybe they just need to adjusted for "aim".  Will have to get that checked.  If your 08 Contessa doesn't have a problem mine is probably the same.

Hey, thanks for the heads-up Gil.

So, I am looking for the relays Roy used in the video (Beuller 40/60A).  There is a link to Amazon but they only have a different brand and 30/40A.  I know not all of these relays are the same diagram so I am trying to find the right ones.  None of our parts stores or auto music places have anything close.

Where did Roy get those relays?

Thanks

Keith,
I buy all of my relays from an EBay retailer.

I guess you mean that the brand name isnt important.  Will any 40/60A work or did you go with 30/40A (I did find some of these).

Keith,
I do not think that the brand is terribly important as long as you are buying a good quality relay. The relay should be rated at the expected amperage draw of the circuit with at least a 50% safety margin. Personally, I always try to use a relay that is rated for at least twice the expected amperage draw. So for a headlight relay, a 30A relay will work just fine. However, since they are virtually the same price, I usually use a 40A relay. You can use a 4 or a 5 terminal relay.
