Couch Replacement

Anyone know who built the fabric couch in the 1999 beaver Marquis tourmaline. It needs to be recovered or a new one purchased. I think it is the Diamanté interior  (green).

It is not a sleeper sofa but a fold out

I know that the sofa in our 2000 Patriot Thunder was definitely not made by Villa.  I had found a tag on it, and located the company.  It is a small "private label" company that makes furniture under contract for OEM purposes.  I can't recall the name of the company, since they weren't interested in working with me on remodeling or replacement.

FYI; we have on order an Ekornes Stressless loveseat to replace our sofa and blend with the Stressless recliner we purchased last year.  The recliner is so comfortable we couldn't stop fighting over it, so we decided to order the sofa to keep the peace.  It will be installed next month, and we'll post some pictures afterwards.

We decided to go with the Ekornes, after discussing a replacement sofa with Villa.  Villas products are not cheap and they primarily upholster in Ultraleather.  Our Ekornes recliner is real leather, and IMHO, there is no way anything can compare.  Since the interior furniture doesn't get nearly as much direct sunlight as do the captain's chairs, we figured it would work out Ok.

If yours has the Diamante interior, the word Diamante will be embroidered on the centre of the pilot, copilot chairs, and the couch, plus cut into the Plexiglas bra on the front.

BTW, Joel, did you have the OEM recliner? Ours is outstanding!

Hi,  We have a '97 Beaver Marquis, Tourmaline, Villa fold down sofa that was cloth.  I found cloth material I liked and went to a regular upholsterer who took our couch out the door and recovered it.  It took about a day or a little more and that was probably 5 or 6 years ago.

We had the original recliner, which we think was a Villa product.  It was a typical, very large chair that IMHO wasn't that comfortable unless it was fully reclined.  For example, I found it uncomfortable to use as a reading chair when it was upright.  

It needed to be reupholstered and we wanted the lighter Euro look.  It's amazing how the smaller recliner improves the look of the coach.  Visually the room just opens up.  As for the comfort of a Euro recliner, not all of them are equal; if you ever try an Ekornes recliner you'll understand how comfortable a chair can be.

Our 99 Tourmaline had Villa furniture ... to include the sofa.  We had Villa remanufacture the sofa about 10 years ago, because the fabric was worn and the cushions lost their resilience.

That effort was one in futility, as the remake lasted just a few years.  I ended up making my own sofa through use of Home Deport 2x2's and dense foam cushions, which we had a local upholsterer in Yuma cover.

I would recommend you remove the unit, as Sharon suggested she had done, and take it to a local, reputable upholsterer and have it remade.
