Air springs for 1989 Marquis
« on: May 03, 2012, 05:26:33 PM »
We have been told that our rear air springs on our 1989 Marquis Gillig chassis are looking weathered and we should consider replacing them. We have checked with Gillig and got a quote that was a bit scary. They are Firestone bags which is about all I can see when I check under my rig but wonder if anyone has a part number for Firestone that I could price check on. No one can use the Gillig part number which I do have. I had them checked for leaks and none were found but we have discovered if we leave the air in for a few days the rear end slowly sinks a bit so not too sure what to do about that. We routinely let the air out now when we park it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. We are trying to get everything ready for our first trip South this January.

Just about any spring an axle shop should be able to match the air bags and do the work, if you are going to have it done.

Wally Schmidt had his Firestone air springs done at Beaver Coach Sales in Bend.  All his records about those bags went up in smoke when their coach burned last year.  He sent me the message that if you call Ken Carpenter at BCS (800-843-2967) he would be able to help you.  Good luck.

Firestone has a cross reference that might work here:  http://www.firestoneindustrial.com/index.aspx.
