Unusual Exhaust Smoke

Traveling today under very hot outside temps (over 100 degrees) and over many steep climbs on I-64 through West Virginia and western Virginia, I noticed a large amount of smoke on my exhaust pipe, under the edge of the basement door above the exhaust, and on the rear flap.  

I did get coolant temp of 217 on my Silverleaf and noticed a warning light flashed a couple of times on the dash during one of the steep climbs.  Did not get any error codes on Silverleaf.  Anyone have any ideas what caused this unusual amount of exhaust smoke?

You may want to shift down a gear and reduce speed, when the temp. goes over 200 degrees.  Warning lights are telling us something.

I was at 2300 rpm and at 35mph.  Not sure if I can do any better.

The last time I had that problem it was caused by a stuck pac brake.

Try adding some Sea Foam to the fuel. This will clean the injectors and may make it run a little cleaner. You will need app. 2 cans if the tank is near 1/4 or lower and add this to fuel before filling the tank. It made my rig run better. You can purchase it at truck stops or Wal Mart or auto parts stores. Only a suggestion.

Could you have been seeing overflow from the radiator and exhaust smoke?

No, never lost any coolant.  I do think the problem is with the PacBrake.  I had a simular problem a couple of years ago in the mountains of New Mexico and Colorado.  I suspected the PacBrake was the cause.  This time it is much worse...

When it happened to my coach I just turned off the pac brake and the problem cleared up.  There is a special pac brake lubricant you can apply to make sure it does not hang up again.

In our case the hydraulic fan seal was leaking on high speed. It will leave a fluid film. Hope it is simpler than that.
