We replaced our Xantrex 2000 with a rebuilt Magnum about 2 years ago.  The Xantrex would repeatedly fail to pass through the AC when on shore power.  Resetting it at the unit always solved the problem but I got tired of crawling into the bay to reach the reset switch.  The Magnum has been problem free to date.  The rebuilt unit was less expensive than new but had only a one-year warranty instead of two with a new unit.

BUT the important point is don't just toss the now surplus Xantrex or convert it into an anchor for the boat.  I decided to put mine on ebay for auction with an accurate description of what the problem was.  The winning bid was over $600!  There is a market for inverters for solar power systems and I think there are people out there that know how to repair Xantrex units even if Xantrex doesn't.

John,

Was the unit you replace a Xantrex Prosine 2.0 or RS2000?
