Tires losing pressure? Check your valve extensions
« on: February 01, 2013, 12:21:21 AM »
Just thought I would share: The other day I noticed the inside rear tire had lost all tire pressure with no indication as to how or why. Using some soapy water in a spray bottle I found the inside 8.5" valve extension was leaking right in the middle of the line and through the stainless steel shrouding. A tire guy told me they go bad after 5 years and should be replaced regularly. Around $25 a set.

I guess I am lucky. Mine are 10 yrs old and have never leaked. I have TPMS so if they did leak I'd know it right away.

I use mine only to check & adjust pressure. Otherwise they reside in the tool box along with the pressure gauge.
