Replacement Halogen Bulbs
« on: May 29, 2013, 03:29:21 AM »
So we all know who the new Beaver owner is by the number of questions posted in succession.... sorry!

Have not had any luck identifying the replacement halogen bulbs that are located in the circular fixtures in the ceiling (2004 Marquis).  There must be 50 of them.

Am going to have to order them online but the bulbs are not marked.  Watts (20?)   Base (T3, T4, G4, G5)?    Or if you know of a specific brand and bulb number that will also work.

Thanks Again!     :)

Rick you may want to look at changing to LED's I feel they are better and safer then the halogen we have a few threads on the forum that you should look at plus some good recourses in the threads. We have also change the fluoresce to LED.
I don't do a lot of dry camping so power usage was not my concern but the heat on the halogens is a problem.

Rick,
The blubs that you are looking for are 10 watt bulbs with a G-4 base.

Rick, be sure you try not to touch the new lamps while installing them.  Like most halogens, skin oils can befoul them and shorten their life.  I simply grab each through the plastic bag they come in, though inserting the pins in their sockets is not always a piece of cake, plastic bag or not.

Joel,

Could that be "urban legend"?  My experience does not support that.  What about yours?

Most halogen lamps I've bought for auto or home carry that warning in the instructions.  Given the price of halogens,  I've never risked touching them, so can't say from personal experience that it is harmful.  But here's info from a bulb supplier's website:
"Halogen light bulbs utilize a semi-permeable glass with can be penetrated by oil from skin. The oil creates hot spots on the glass that reduces the bulb's life."

Looks like I need to be more careful and not touch them.

Does anyone know where to source the actual chrome circular lens cover itself?

I assume you mean the trim ring, and true chrome, not nickle.  You might contact Gustafson and ask if it is available separate from an entire fixture.
