Actually depending on the model there is a repair I read about on the internet that requires removing the unit, opening it up to access the 50' copper tube and cut, splice and solder the ruptured area. I have not seen nor done this procedure, but if I was in there and pulled a copper unit out, I would look at fabricating a stainless tube replacement, if I were to be living in really cold climates ever again. Given the price of the unit, I don't think there is anything to lose trying it.
