Dash fan stuck on defrost vent .. UPDATE
Tom Rogers:
No matter where I move the selector switch the air blows only thru the defroster vents. Have tried numerous times in ALL selections with fan on High, Med and Low and heat selector in various areas. It just recently happened .... no maintenance work has been done in the dash area to disrupt any wiring etc. This system might be vac ... is there a reservoir maybe? I did replace the resister in the plenum last year ... could something be near the plenum? Our Class A is a 06 Beaver 39' 400 cat. Any thoughts ????? Thanks. Tom
Just received a call from the Ford dealer. $325.00 for a new part!!!! Anyone know of a less expensive parts supplier????
Jim Shaw:
Tom, It has been my experence that it will go to defrost only when you have a vacumn leak. Check the vacumn hose connection at the back of the heater control. Also follow the hoses to the control valves as best you can. Good luck.

Richard And Babs Ames:
Diesel engines do not supply vacuum like a gasoline engine does so you probably have a firewall mounted vacuum pump that supplies the vacuum to operate the doors that controls the air flow in your dash AC/heat/defrost vents. Make sure it is operating and supplying vacuum and the hoses are securely connected.
Tom Rogers:
I looked under the dash (best I could .... wish I was a pretzel) and thru the dash access opening and everything seems OK. Slid out the generator to see if I could see anything on the firewall. NOT!!! Before I crawl under the front end (always Apprehensive doing that) Does anyone know if that's where the pump and reservoir are ???
Gerald Farris:
You probably do not have a reservoir, only an electrically powered vacuum pump. The pump will be mounted on the firewall close to the A/C evaporator case.
Gerald
