Onan radiator cap
« on: October 23, 2013, 11:30:25 AM »
We have the 10 KW Onan.  I wanted to make sure the coolant fluid level was right since there was none in the overflow.  The book says remove plate and pull up the hose with the cap on it.  Then make sure the fluid is just to the bottom of the filler tube.

Has anyone found a good way to hold up on the filler tube while pushing down on the radiator cap and turning it?  Seems like a stupid design.  I cant even get it to come out far enough to get a firm grip.

Thanks

Keith, how far are you able to pull the hose out? Although a bit stubborn at first Mine pulls out a good 6-8" which makes it easy to take the cap on and off.

3 to 4 inches was about the best.  I think the cap is old and sticks making it more difficult but it would be nice to be able to get a good grip on the spout.
