What brand / model of air compressor does anyone find works best to inflate our tires for use at home or on the road. My coaches on board compressor just doesn't seem to have the "umpff" to get the tires up to 100psi and I'm not sure how many more times Schwab is gonna test me for free before making me buy a set of tires from them.

Matthew,

I purchased a booster from Les Schwab in Junction City.  It is compact and quick.  I inflate my front at 115 pounds which it handles easily.  While a little pricey, I wouldn't be without it.

I have a Vair that works very well.  Not cheap but does the job without complaint.  Since it's a compact 12V compressor, I keep it in the Jeep so I can use it for either vehicle.  Sometime when exploring I drop the Jeep tire pressure for comfort and traction so it's nice to be able to bring the air back up to road pressures.  When adding air to the MH, I use the Jeep battery and move to either end rather than trying to use long hoses or and extension cord.

We owned this Hitachi when we left our sticks & bricks so we took it.  It's a bit more compressor than I need, but it's really nice to have and it's compact size is easy to fit in a storage bay.  It has a maximum pressure of ~130 psi so getting 110 for my front wheels is easy.

I use a Craftsman Model # 15309 cost around $100.  I know many others use this and we all seem happy with it.  I know mine works fine.

I have used an air doubler for years it will double your present PSI and just put it in line on air hose. Used it on our bus which we had to go 120 psi.

Carl,
What is an air doubler and where do you get them?

Mathew,

There is a "trick".  You have to lower the pressure in the Beaver air system enough to trigger the compressor to engage.  Once engaged, the pressure and volume is adequate to inflate your tires.  You can lower the pressure by having a helper cycle the brakes.  Easier is to make or buy a device that will release air to force compressor engagement.

Amazon sells one that has a button on it to release air to force compressor engagement and the gauge shows when there is greater pressure than in the tire so that you can fill the tire.

There are a couple entertaining videos on YouTube that explain this quite well.
