Look here and select your coach in the brochures.  It appears Patriots rated 40' are actually about 39.5'.

The coaches that brochures are available for on the site I posted are only the 2007 and 2008 years in the Patriot Thunder model.  The Patriot model not with Thunder, for example, goes from 2003 to 2006.  Other models go back to 2003 as well.  I think 2003 was the first model year - perhaps the second model year - that was not produced by the Beaver Coach Company.  The various coach models have their rated length and model name followed by "exact statistics."  For example, my coach, a 2004 Beaver Marquis Sapphire 45, has an "overall length" listed as 43 1/2 feet found on page 6 of the 2004 Beaver Marquis brochure.  Other coaches of shorter lengths seem to have "overall lengths" longer than their rated lengths.

I see now your coach is a 2000 Patriot Thunder.  I have no idea how these later years' coaches correlate to your coach regarding rated length compared to actual "overall length."

According to the brochure in this forum's archives, the 2000 Patriot Princeton, Monticello, and Brandywine 40' models were actually 40' 7 1/2".

My 2003 Patriot Patriot Thunder is 39'8", add another 9" for the ladder and you're out to about 40'5".

We own a 1998 Beaver Monterey that shows it is a 30' on the Vin. tag. We measured it outside and it is 33' plus the ladder. The fellow we bought it from said that MH lengths are an inside measurement. Fact or fiction on that I am not sure, but it does seem there is no rhythm nor reason when it comes to actually stated length.

If you are looking for storage for YOUR coach go out and buy a tape measure. Different models over different years varied in length. My 2002 Thunder, Monticello measures 39-9 but it is a California model. If it had not been, it would measure 40-6 or 10. No kidding. That was what Beaver Coach told me. Like I say measure YOUR coach.

My 2000 Thunder (different chassis than yours) was listed in its sales literature as 40' 7.5"

I don't know that you'd want to be cutting things too tight on the length of a storage unit anyway, i.e.- a 40' unit would not be long enough if I had your coach.

Any measuring tape would work if you're patient enough to make enough readings and add them together.  I keep a little Lufkin or Stanley 3 footer on my keychain.  Straightedge off the front bumper to one side and plumb down, ditto for the rear ladder or folded towbar, then measure between in multiple steps as needed.

Marty is absolutely correct.  We had a 2000 Thunder that was a California and was 40'.  Others were 40'8' or so.

well im purchasing a garage thats a 43' building so trying to find out if its feasible to even try to get this coach in here, if its over 40' not worth trying but if its under 40' like 39 something i think i can do it with some help.

Personally, I think a 43' building will be a little tight for a 39'+ motor coach. Opening the rear engine and/or front panel doors will be a squeeze, at either end, if you have to keep the garage doors closed. I know I couldn't do it given my "robust" makeup!
Good Luck,
Gary

The other thing to watch out for is the building supports.  I have a friend with a Beaver who has a building that is rated plenty long for his coach.  The problem is the building's interior skeleton supports.  Just opposite the entry door is a support that effectively made the building several feet shorter.  He has to enter the building at an angle to miss the support at the far end in order to push the coach nose up to the far siding skin.  Even then his coach barely fits because, as you know, the length of the coach from left rear to the right front is at least a foot or more longer than its actual length.

the building has 19' eves its setup to have a mezzanine, and my 13'2" tall stacker trailer is much taller then the coach.

the doors are automatic, not too big a deal there but the tight squeeze does worry me some. ill admit.
