Ford Edge/Lincoln tail lights
« on: March 31, 2014, 03:55:15 AM »
We just purchased a new tow vehicle and experienced a problem when hooking up lights.  The installer became frustrated and contacted Roadmaster.  This problem has occurred before and there is a fix by installing a resistor in the right place.   The tail lights worked fine and the brake and turn signals worked fine as long as they were tested separately.  If the tail lights were on the turn signals would not function.  This seems to be a problem on the new Ford/Lincoln with LED's.  If this happens contact me for further details.

Mike,
Possibly simpler solution is to add separate lights in tail lenses that are hooked only to the tow harness. Toad electrical system is not in circuit. Blue Ox sells them. I've installed them on 2 toads with no interaction problems.

It probably needs a diode in the tail light feed?

Steve,
Installing an extra blub with the Blue Ox kit probably is not an option with the LED tail and stop light system because of the lack of clearance and the fact that there is no standard reflector.

There are appropriate diodes installed.

Gerald,
Thx for the clarification. LEDs certainly don't need teh space of an incandescent.
