2003 Monterey no tail lights and loose steering
« on: July 03, 2014, 02:31:51 AM »
Hello, We are new to the BAC (long time lurkers and now new members with a 2003 Beaver 37 Monterey new to us and in great condition! Our Monterey tail lamps and clearance lights are not working but all other lights are.............is this one fuse or circuit breaker issue? Second question is when we bought the coach in May and drove it back from GA. to WI. we put new Michelin tires on all six wheels but there appears to be a lot of steering play when driving. Is that a simple fix for removing steering play with out having a front end alignment done as the old Goodyear tires had worn fine? A big thanks to all the BAC people for making this sight work so well !!!!!

Doug,
Your light problem could be one of several problems from a headlight switch to a circuit breaker in the LF electrical bay or even a Smart Wheel module if so equipped. You will just have to trace the circuit and see where it is losing voltage.

When it comes to play in the steering, a front end alignment will not affect that. If you are familiar with the way a long wheelbase coach drives and you think that it has excess play, you should have the steering checked by an experienced suspension technician at some place like Henderson's Line-Up or Josam, and not at Camping World or a similar shop. There is a possibility that you just need a steering stabilizer with a trim unit, but the coach will need a through check to determine that.
