HydroHot stopping and starting

My HH500 is providing lots of hot water and heat.  However the diesel burner starts, runs fine for about 3-4 minutes then shuts down.  Then in 6-10 minutes starts up again and does the same thing again.  It will continue to do this as long as it is on.  Is it running normally?

Bill,
It sounds like your HH is operating normally if there is not a high heating demand. The HydroHot unit has a much smaller boiler fluid reservoir than the larger AquaHot unit, and therefore, at low demand it will reach operating temperature quickly causing shorter burner intervals. However, you should mention this the next time that the unit is serviced to be sure that your aquastat is operating correctly to turn the burner on and off at the correct temperature.

Bill
It all depends on your thermostat demand
Might check your basement heat
Where are you located?

Right now we are in northern Michigan with temps in the 20's & 30's getting the coach ready for our annual trip the FL Keys.  That is why I have the HH on as we are packing to leave.  When we get to the keys we rarely use the diesel burner as the electric side keeps things hot enough.  :)

At those temps I would think it is operating correctly...but I surely am no expert!

Thanks everyone including the phone calls.  I am now comfortable that my HH is operating normally.  This forum is great. :)

We are staying at Sunshine Key RV Resort at MM 39 just west of the Seven Mile Bridge.  Our 5th year - a great place to stay and great fishing.

I've had our rig in Idaho and Wyoming when unseasonal blizzards hit.  In spite of our units being well-insulated, in the temps. you are talking about outside a few inches of wall and ceiling doesn't stand much of a chance.  You just aren't used to the unit having to run so often to keep up with the heat loss.  Sounds normal to me Bill.
