Door Latch Spring
« on: March 21, 2015, 03:25:39 AM »
The spring in the bathroom door latch broke.  Anyone know where to get one?  I've looked in a few big box stores with no luck.  Everyone looks at me like I'm nuts when I ask where to find this type of spring.  They usually bring me to the regular type of spring (looks like a cylinder).  The one I need Is not as tall and has locking type "ears" on it so when it is compressed one ear is behind the actual latch and the other "ear" locks against the side of the housing.  It compresses when the latch is pulled back (open) and and the coils force the latch back out to hold the door closed.
Yeah I know, not making much sense.  I am having a hard time explaining it.  Hopefully I will be able to attach a pic of the assembled latch so someone will recognize it.  Thanks in advance.
