Eclipse patio awning soft connect replacement

On my 07 Contessa l need to replace the soft connect on a eclipse patio awning. Carefree supplied their service manual but the soft connect replacement procedure was very vague. Has anyone done this procedure?

Had ours replaced last winter while in Gulf Shores, Ala.  I did not do the replacement, but watched a fairly simple procedure which took less than an hour.  Simply remove the screws on both ends which hold the fabric in place and pull it out. The techs had a pair of vise grips with rubber tubing on the jaws which helped to get a hold on the fabric to pull the old out and the new in. Good luck.

Don & Cathy was your awning extended or in the closed position when the soft connect was replaced?

It was extended a couple of feet, enough to get the hard cover away from the soft connect. You will, of course, need to have someone or something to hold the awning from falling down when you remove the soft connect.  Good luck.
