Satellite dish hookup
« on: June 21, 2010, 10:13:13 PM »
I want to put a satellite dish on the roof of my Unit, 98 Monterey, There is a circle on the roof with a cross hatch design that says satellite dish location. What I want to find out,  Is there a cable already run from that location that feeds up forward to the television receiver area (above the drivers head) of the motorhome?

There might be!

When I had my KVH dome installed I asked why they didn't use the marked location.  The answer was that the installers didn't trust the quality of the wire and connections used by Beaver.  Instead, they mounted the dome at the front of the coach so that they could easily reach the electronics cabinet with a new hole through the roof and use the highest quality of wire and connectors.  Another advantage to the front location was that they could run two wires as required by a DVR.

Thank you for the info.  From what you say, it appears to be wired but maybe not with the best quality wire. I wonder if the old wire could be used as a snake to thread a new wire?

You may try pulling on the wire to see if it gives.  Most of the wires are wire tied together in bundles, which makes snaking a wire difficult.
