Jacobs exhaust brake replacement for a Cat C 9 engine
« on: October 11, 2015, 01:07:08 AM »
My Jacobs exhaust brake had to replaced due to a warped housing. However Jacobs  no longer makes an exhaust brake for the C 9 engine. Pac Brake does make an exhaust brake for the C 9 and it is a fairly quick conversion. The performance is superior but there is periodic maintenance required. Just thought like would share this information.

Bryan, yes the change over is a good match. Yes, there is a little maintance involved but with
exhaust braking systems ( heat can cause problems being valve is located next to exhaust side
of turbo charger ). One suggestion I would make is longer cool down before engine shut down.

Dave thanks for the suggestion for a longer cool down. I thought like was doing that but you never know. Additionally an air leak to to the activator could have contributed to the Jacobs exhaust brake failure.
