Drivers Seat turn around?
« on: April 25, 2016, 09:51:09 PM »
Have owned 2005 36ft Beaver Monterey for a year now, and can't figure out how to spin drivers seat around to use in living area. Is it possible? I know I am not the sharpest tack in the box, but ----?

Mine has two black levers on the side near the other seat controls.  One makes the seat back move.  The other releases the seat so it swivels.  It's not easy to turn it around but it does.  Good luck.

Make sure you turn it the right way so you don't pull the electrical connection to the seat loose.  Get down on the floor and watch the cord.  The lever that should release the seat is mechanical, not electrical.

I have a lever right in the center front of the seat just below the cushion that you pull out to allow the seat to turn.

Tom, your '05 is probably similar to our '06.  Both seats have a black lever inset in the front just below the cushion, as Chuck notes.  Pulling it disengages the pivot lock.

You may have to use the switches to skid forward or back, and use the side lever to tilt the back forward, to allow swinging room before the seat will rotate even 45 degrees;  don't force anything.  Also heed Mike's warning, as many of us have had to deal with control wiring binding underneath and the repairs aren't always easy.  The wiring loom usually emanates through the floor under the back of the chair.

One word of caution, from personal negative experience:  when done and returning the seats to normal driving position, be sure they are forward enough that the incoming slideouts clear the seat backs when you break camp.  The upholstery is easily damaged.  It may seem common sense, but it can be overlooked if it's taken for granted sometime afterwards that the seats are in their usual safe positions.

Definitely appreciate all your comments. Will try again the next time I have the slide out.
Thanks again.
