I have been chaseing illusive squeaks in the dash area the last couple years. I found that the dash was joined to the firewall top area with about 8 sheetrock screws. I don't know if they used any glue. All screws were sheared off! I put in some new ones and that worked for the last trip. I think I need to add some better screws. Sheetrock screws are great and maybe strong but they seem to be brittle.

I find drywall screws every where on my coach. they have the wrong threads and will not hold to metal. I replace them with screws engineered for metal. they don't vibrate loose.

Hi Guys, low frequency squeaks are usually wood against wood or metal. Hi pitched or hi frequency squeaks are usually plastic rubbing against glass. Amazing how this can really get under your skin! Have fun, Fred

When we had it, our '04 Monterey had a dash squeak that disappeared when I wedged one of BJ's plastic spatulas into the right space. I added screws, but the spatula worked best.
