Propane tank on-off indicator light
« on: February 22, 2017, 07:02:08 PM »
On my 2005 Patriot Thunder, the propane tank has an electric cut-off switch (valve) so you can turn off propane to the coach when travelling on a ferry, for example. The switch works as I used it several times last summer as we travelled thru BC and Vancouver Island. Next to the switch is a red indicator light that, of course, does not work. Does anyone know if this light is on (red) when the valve is open, or, red when the valve is closed?  I haven't yet got in there with my voltmeter.

On our 04PT the red light is on when the valve is open.  I found a LED replacement for ours at the local NAPA store.

Thanks Rod, That's what I'll do, go for an LED replacement.

I have changed our propane light and switch.  There is a lot of moisture that's kicked up from the tire so seal your connections well. I have a label maker and put off and on at the switch. Not using it enough to remember when the light breaks which way is off or on short of lighting the stove top burners.

Are there lights located on the dash? Just wondering if I have one that isn't working.

I think that's a great idea. I could run wires over wheel well to the front electrical bay from their up to the left console and mount a light and switch. But it's a whole lot cheaper and faster to use the label maker. But still a good idea.
