Coach Batteries

My coach batteries, 6 yo Interstates, are about shot and I've been looking around for some replacements.  Found a company here in Tucson that will come to the house and install 6 Trojan T-105's (6) for $120.00 ea plus $50.00 for delivery and installation.  is that a decent price?  I haven't used the Trojan brand since my boat days but seem to recall they were pretty good batteries.

For Trojans that seems like a fair price with installation in my opinion. You have to factor in your cost to drive the motorhome elsewhere just to get the job done. I think my price for Trojans was about what you are paying.

Dick,
Be sure to understand the replacement / warranty policy. I put 105s in the Marquis and started having problems with 1 battery. The vendor wouldn't accept the hydrometer readings or load test results and insisted on keeping the battery for 2+ days to run charge/discharge tests. Real pain. Good batteries till you have a problem. Then not worth the hassle IMHO.

You might want to review former discussions like this one, Dick:

 http://beaveramb.org/forum/index.php/topic,5815.msg43567.html#msg43567

The last that I checked, the Interstates (around 232 mins RC at 20 amps as I recall) at Costco were around $90.  That's $180 less for 6.  You could take a photo or make a diagram of your wire routing, remove your old batteries and haul to Costco to satisfy the core charge then and there, and install the new ones yourself saving about $230.

But there's nothing wrong with those Trojans if they're installing them quick and easy, and if that's worth it to you.

Thanks for all the input, it's greatly appreciated.

I did consider the Costco batteries but, like all the rest, there have been reported issues.  From my experience all battery warentee require that the defective battery be taken to a distributor for load testing and that is just the way it is.  Since I detest replacing batteries than have to take the old ones back it's worth it to me to simply have it done my a professional and be done with it.  Delivery and installation at my house is just frosting so as long as the price is reasonable, I'm happy.

They should be installed next week.  I wanted the high posts and he didn't have those in stock so perhaps a small delay while he gets them.
