Hayes Genesis Trailer Brake Controller
« on: July 31, 2017, 09:32:07 PM »
Anyone here have one?  Our coach came with one installed.  We have never used it nor anticipate ever using it.  Since I brought the coach home from the shop the Genesis Controller is flashing "OC" and I think it's causing the coach brake lights to flash intermittently on and off.  The box also seems to click intermittently.  "OC" means Open Circuit according to ETrailer.com's troubleshooting guide.

Since I don't use it, I am thinking I will simply cut the hot (black) wire going into the box (one of four wires) and hope that will disable it.  Whatcha think?

David,
Op guide indicates changing mode to PH or EH will stop controller from looking for a trailer. That should stop it.  See attached.

lol   Now I have to go re-splice the power wire I cut... and reset the controller to a "ain't no trailer connected" status, I guess.  I wonder how the controller status got changed.  It's never done this flashing in the five years we have owned the coach.

Thanks for finding that manual.  I probably spent an hour looking for one, but never ran across it.
