Battery compartment fire
« on: April 15, 2017, 10:58:08 PM »
      Hi Forum Guys,
I need some assistance. Good friend of mine bought a '91 Contessa on a Gillig chassis. There was a fire in the battery compartment and the cables and wiring pretty much burned up. My question is did Gillig have a schematic in their chassis manual or is their a sister coach out there with someone willing to help. The last 8 of the VIN is M1051438. Thanks in advance for your support.

Fred,

I had an 89 Contessa on a Gillig Chassis for a number of years and they had an excellent schematic of both the AC and DC systems in coach manual. They had the wiring and all the wired components drawn out on the schematics. It was much more user friendly then the cryptic one that my 2002 Marquis had. I no longer own that Contessa and the manuals went with it, but there is hope, given that era coach had excellent schematics.

Thanks Ed, Any idea how to find someone out there with the owners manual you are talking about? Perhaps 1990, 1991 or 1992. Fred

I have a '90 Marquis and have all the electric schematics.  They might be the same as the Contessa you're asking about.  Also Rick Mayer has a '93 Grand Marquis which also should have the same schematics.  Both of these coaches were built on a Gillig chasis.  If I can help get back to me.  Safe travels everyone.

If you do a Google search for Beaver Motorhome History I found a site that has some schematics. I think 92 and up are different. I didn't get any manuals with my Marquis and have found some help at that site.

Thanks Keith, Great lead. Went to the web site and the schematics go back to 1984, hopefully give me an idea where Phillip and I can start.
Thanks Mandy, I appreciate your reply, would it be possible for you to scan the 12volt and 120 volt schematics into a PDF and email them to me? That would be awesome. brookdoc1@gmail.com

Fred,

Looks like you have some good schematic sources. Glad we have such a good group of helpful Beaver owners. Happy Easter to all.
