Will these temps this week be ok?
« on: November 07, 2017, 04:34:17 PM »
I know this has been addressed here several times, but I would like an opinion of others. The shop that was going to install the stacked washer and dryer tomorrow, called and postponed our appointment to Monday. I have been holding off on winterizing until it was installed, however we are now in a quandry.

The expected temps from now until Monday..hi and low.
Today 45-26
Wed 47-32
Thurs 37-18
Fri 35-26
Sat 38-31
Sunday 38-28

The coach is sitting next to the house, plugged in to 15-20A. I have the Hydro Hot running on diesel and the furnace set at 45.

Last night's low was 29 and at 7:00 am the outside temp was 33, and the basement temp was 48.

Are we okay on the water lines as described, in your opinion?

Thanks.

As long as you have enough diesel and the power doesn't go out, you should be fine.  The bay exchanger's thermostat is auto-set at about 42.  I might go out and double-check that things are running okay the night it dips to 18, but the bays in ours stay remarkably warm in cold weather even sans the hydronics;  as long as daytime temps reach above freezing, the insulating effect of the structure mitigates temp swings.

Stan,

We personally tested our '04 Beaver to MINUS 15 or 20 with 50 MPH winds.  It was not by choice.  I-90 closed for three days.  We used about 30 gallons of fuel but we stayed warm and nothing broke or froze.

I got up at 5 am and it was 18 out per the indoor/outdoor thermometer on my desk. I went out to the coach, the inside temp was 45 in the living room, the indoor/outdoor in the coach gauge said 21 outside, and the basement temp was 48.

At 8 am it was 22 out, basement temp was still 47.

Looking okay so far.

Thanks.

As long as the HydroHot runs, you'll be OK!
