Aqua hot tune up
« on: April 20, 2018, 11:25:08 AM »
Time for the yearly tune up.  Over winter we let the AH run as needed but it left a huge residue of black on the ground.  Does this sound right over an extended time or is service likely to be more than cleaning and nozzle and filter?
My first service on the 100-04s as opposed to the older ones so any advice is good.

Thanks

Our AH does the same thing, chuncks of black residue below the exhaust pipe..... even after it was rebuilt last fall. Rebuilt included a new burner assembly, mixing valve, circulation pump, thermostat, electric heating element, and new control board.

Interesting.  Our AquaHot is the AHE-100-02S.  The last time we had it serviced was in 2015.  At that time it needed two new major parts, a Webasto and Igniter, plus a new electrode for water heating.  Since then it has not been touched but has worked almost flawlessly.  Before I started putting Lucas Fuel Treatment in with fuel fillups, it would leave a black exhaust footprint on the ground.  Since using Lucas, it will puff a little black smoke when starting but has not left a black footprint at all... even when parked for a couple months in the same spot.  I think this past Winter our Aquahot shut itself off about three times over five months.  Our unit doesn't have a status display with lights and all.  We simply turn its ON-Off switch off to reset it and turn it back on.

It has been working so well I don't want anybody to touch it!

There are a couple of interesting videos on youtube.  See (Aqua Hot Service) it is fairly short and soso quality but does the job simply in easy to follow segments.  One thing it does mention is the fuel solenoid rebuild kit.  I am wondering if that might be our problem.
Any opinions?

Kieth, !6 months ago I did replace filter, nozzle, fuel solenoid (Pricey) Have not had a problem since with 200+ hours. I'm sure its due for a new nozzle soon now that I mentioned it.  Dale

Keith,
Ours does the same thing. Runs perfectly fine but it does leave some soot on the ground. Even got it on the underside of the roof on my lot at Happy Trails when i was using the Genturi exhaust pipe. There seems to be a couple of schools of thought on these, some say they should be serviced every year and then others, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Ours runs great, we used it almost every day this past fall and winter. We had it serviced about 18 months ago. We are going to have it serviced when we get to Bend, by then it will be almost 2 years.
