Who makes the "backup light" for the 2005 Patriot?
« on: February 25, 2019, 11:44:45 PM »
Does anyone know who the manufacture is (or a vehicle make/model) for the backup light on the 2005 Patriot?

It says "sealed beam halogen" on the glass. It is approximately 5-1/2 x 3-1/8 (glass showing) or 6-1/2 x 3-1/4 (including the chrome retainer cover).

I still have not located this backup light via on-line search by size. There are no part numbers on it. However I did notice the "GE" logo on it.

I'll try the GE website - or maybe just need to take to Autoparts store (but these parts store cashiers now days cant find anything unless it is in their computer by make and model).  :-[

I think it is a GE 16976 (H9420) - I ordered one off Ebay for $10. so not much harm if it is wrong. The key to the search was to look for bulbs in "millimeters" dimensions.

Specs says it is 150mm x 92mm, 47,000 Initial Maximum Beam CandlePower (MBCP), 50W 12.8V

I don't even know if mine work.  I haven't driven after dark in 3 years.

Mike, I replaced both the fog/driving and rear backup lites with some hi powered led units. I run with the driving lites on all the time so the idiots can't miss seeing us coming down the road.
One thing about the driving lites on my coach, they are wired through the parking brake, they will not come on until the brakes are released or you turn on the headlights, so what engineer thought that was a good idea??

Me either - but my "backup spotter" keeps telling me the light is out.  ;)

Bought one at Pep Boys. Fits perfectly and looks identical to the old one.

I ordered the "GE 16976" (H9420 series). Should be delivered in another day or so.

Napa is a good idea. Unfortunately these parts clerks now days want to know vehicle make, model, year, then look it up in the computer. If 2005 Beaver Patriot is not in the system, your out of luck. Maybe a few old-timers will go back into the stock room and try to match something up for you. Parts clerks are not like they used to be 25-30 years ago. IMO.
