And those Cummins lift pumps are expensive. I have replaced two so far.

I only replaced one.  It was right after the switch to ULSD and Cummins wanted the entire unit back for examination.  The mechanic wanted to just "fix" it.  It was still under warranty so didn't hurt too bad.
