Having an issue on 30amp power with 50amp Autoformer. We have a 50amp Autoformer with a 50amp rig. From a 30amp pedestal (using dog-bone) power cord goes to AF to SurgeGard 40250 RVC Transfer Switch and EMS into rig. If the 30 amp power is low, AF works perfectly. HOWEVER if the power is high (say 125v) the AF boosts the power to the rig to around 135v. Getting message on my Alladin System saying "AC Input Leg 1 High". If I disconnect AF, everything runs fine. Anyone know whats going on and is this dangerous (I for one do not like it)

   Jeff, my understanding of the need of the Hughes AF is to boost voltage of an older RV site perhaps with aluminum wiring and or excessive amount of sites on the same source creating a voltage drop. If your 30 amp source is 120 to 125 volts a/c I would not use the AF and by-pass it. Really difficult to run 50 amp coaches on 30amps because your forced to give up 70 amps of resources. On top of all that, the energy management system wants to have the last say as to what it turns on and off automatically.  Fred

Jeff ,the AF should go into
bypass mode when voltage is at 112volts or higher. Your AF is not functioning correctly . That is how my  manual reads and how ours operates.

So the problem seems to be with the park we're in. The voltage is in the 129v-130v AC (30amp) at both the pedestal and as seen through our Alladin system (GTK it's accurate). Just went around to ½ dozen other pedestals and all the same (washroom too). So if the af boosts 130v by 2% (which it does automatically) thats takes it to 132.6v 0.6v over the threshold for our Surge guard 40250 TS/EMS.

Your Hughes AutoFormer is defective. It should not boost the voltage once the voltage reaches 115V.
