Bilstein optional shocks
« on: February 29, 2020, 03:35:31 PM »
Our coach (2007 Beaver Patriot Thunder) has the optional electronically controlled shocks (Bilstein's) that have a sport and comfort setting controlled by a dash switch. The lights on the switch stay on regardless of the switch setting. Does anybody have any technical information on how they operate? I have a constant error light on the dash but can find no troubleshooting data. Contacted Bilstein but they said since it was an OEM supplied item only they cant help, REV group has not been of any help. Any technical data, owners manual, brochure, etc would be appreciated. Looking at the wiring diagrahm, which I do have, it appears the system is not as simple as I hoped.

Paul,
There is a complete set of 07 Patriot wiring diagrams in Coach Assist. Access it on the Private Members Only board.
I did a bit of looking and found the shock wiring on page 178. Other pages that show the connectors, etc are 9-11, 93-94, 107 and 136.

Paul, I to have the shock adjustment system and could not get the red light to stay off. All the research I have done leads me to believe that the control module is no longer available and obsolete. I finally gave up and removed the fuse in the front left run bay to get light to go off. Also, I could not differentiate any difference in the two modes available. Probably not the solution you are looking for, but for me I will live with it. Hopefully someone else will have a better solution, as I will follow this topic with interest.

Paul
I do have some info on these shocks though I will have to dig it out of my file.   I will try to post it Monday afternoon.
Just from memory the red light on the button is a malfunction indicator for the electronic control units.  Mine is always on too.
The Bilstein rep at an FMCA rally told me they sell a straight replacement with no electronics.

I have not found all my info on this but so far the owners manual page 226 and 227 does a good general description.
The library on line has a copy of the owners manual.
I have a brochure that I can't find.  I will post it when I do.
It shows the controllers and the accelerometers.

Ok Paul and Frank
One of the dumbest things is the Beaver wiring book with no index or page numbers but 16 pages from the rear of the book are two diagrams describing all the wiring and controllers and connectors for the Bilstein ACD shocks.
The entire wiring diagram book is available on the forum library page.

I will keep digging for a good layout diagram.
