Muffler replacement?
« on: December 17, 2021, 03:11:03 AM »
The attached photo reveals exhaust leaking from the metal tubing that extends in to the inside of muffler. The exhaust soot has been there for years but recently while cleaning the chrome tailpipe the tube inside the muffler broke free and dropped the tailpipe about 3/4 of an inch. I secured the exhaust pipe with some metal straping and it seems secure. Do I need a new muffler or can I use JB high heat weld around the exhaust leak?

I would certainly try some JB weld before I went with the muffler replacement.  If you are satisfied that the muffler is secure and it is running properly this could probably at least buy you some time, and may hold up for years.  So really what have you got to loose?  I am not sure how much a new muffler is, but I have had sticker shock from them in the past.
