Air cleaner problem
« on: September 09, 2023, 03:17:01 AM »
Hi everyone Just change the air cleaner when a couple thousand miles says it needs changed again C 13 caterpillar needs a lot of air do not want to buy the original filter again somewhere I seen where they were using C 15 caterpillar filters. Does anybody know what the part number is the housing or what they have done to correct the problem. Over 30 inches a vacuum fuel mileage is terrible.

Buzzy,

The following link will provide you with the part numbers you'll need to install the C15 air filter.

You’ll need to extend your existing mounting brackets to provide clearance for the larger diameter filter. See the images attached to the message.

My question is how the heck does the C13 airfilter come out? I took out the 6 bolts in the end and it doesn't want to budge! It almost seems as there is something in the back of the filter holding it in place. I was able to get the access side to open about a 1/4" but I don't want to break anything.
Baldwin PA2333 filter....

Don’t force it Shawn.  Be patient and someone here that knows how to finagle things will probably chime in.  You don’t want to read it after you’ve forced it and broke something.

Shawn,

Someone with knowledge specific to a 2005 PT will need to respond. The air intake system on an 05 is unique and significantly different from an 06 and later. I would suggest starting a new thread with a very descriptive title...someone with an 05 might be more apt to see your request and respond.
