Slideouts not functional-no noise, nuthin
« on: February 13, 2012, 11:47:00 PM »
None of my slides are opening. Actually they moved about an inch but I believe that is from what little pressure is in the system. Now the rear bedroom slide will not go in. I hear no noise whatsoever coming from anywhere just silence. Chassis batteries are good, house batteries are full, engine starts and runs fine, all 12VDC in coach is operational, AC circuit operational, invertor DC and AC operational.

Before I go outside and start crawling around I thought I would ask what I should check first?  :'(

No noise indicates the HWH Slide Pump isn't getting power.  Not sure what to tell you except to check the grounding of the pump and the connections on its onboard solenoid.  I've never had to look for it, so I'm not sure where the pump is unless it's near the hydraulic solenoid manifold by the entry step.  My '06 wiring diagram indicates a possible 40 ft wire run between the pump and the house fuse block it comes from, so it's probably up front underneath.

On my diagram it says that particular wire connects to the topmost fuse on the block, labeled "(QUAD)", whereas other big fuses on the block show actual amp ratings.  I haven't easy access to the coach at the moment, but I think that fuse block is likely in the battery bay near the big boy solenoid, behind the access panel, because of the heavy wiring and high amperage involved.  So use caution when checking that fuse.  Plus, if it's blown, it would be nice to know why.

Hopefully someone with more experience or knowledge of the wiring involved will contribute more insight than I can.  Or call Beaver Coach Sales in Bend for advice.

Larry, I checked today and the fuse labeled "Quad" on my diagram is actually a 200 amp one, and it is behind the gray access door above the batteries, and at the top left of the House Fuse block, which is the block behind and to the right of the Big Boy.  Hopefully our coaches are relatively similar.

If you want a copy of the diagram, let me know.

I finally found two reasons why my 4 slides were not operational.  I should mention the hydraulic pump was not functioning.  As Joel suggested I finally checked the solenoid mounted on the pump and found that four leads going to the solenoid were a little loose. Once I cleaned all the ring connectors and tightened everything up, the front slides were operational again!!  What a relief, but the rear slides still didn't operate. I finally found a 20A DC house fuse blown in the bathroom closet fuse panel.  I recently had some marker lights replaced at a body shop, and they shorted something and later fixed it. Long story short, they must have unknowingly blown this fuse.

Thanks for your help Joel, the pump was located under the step, as you suggested. I removed and cleaned the ground, and will coat the connection tomorrow.
