Hydraulic pump
« on: May 11, 2013, 09:24:29 AM »
I have found what I believe is the hydraulic pump on our 3126 CAT.   The pump is blue and has a plate on it thar reads "Vickers".

There is a hydraulic hose attached to this unit that goes along the passenger side and gets lost in a bundle up past the battery compartment somewhere.  There is a metal fitting with a sleeve back over the rubber hose.  The sleeve is leaking slightly.

Where does this hose go and is there a way of repairing it without removing it from the coach?  (I have tracked about 10 feet and it keeps going so the job looks tough and expensive.)

Thanks

Is this the hose Harvy is talking about?  If so, sorry about the duplicate post.

Hi Keith.
No this is not the hose that I was asking about Keith. If this hydraulic pump you found is attached to the engine then I would guess that the hose is for your power steering. The engine driven hydraulic pump drives the cooling fan and the power steering.
You may need to find someone that can put a new end on the end off your existing hose but it would need to be one that does not need to be pressed on with a hydraulic press.

Keith

The guys that do mobile repair, especially on construction equipment are pretty good at fixing hydraulic hoses onsite.
