Freedom 20D Inverter Strange Lights on Controls
« on: April 15, 2013, 11:56:17 PM »
The inverter control panel has exhibited this strange behavior three times in the past 3 weeks when parked and plugged into a good solid 50A hookup at my house:
1. The OVERLOAD light flashes continually.
2. There are two adjacent voltage lights continuously on which are the 12.0 and 12.5 positions.
3. There are two lights continuously on in the amps section which are 0 and 130 (i.e., the lowest and the topmost lights)
4. In addition the inverter light is on (it should be) and the ac power light is on (it should be) which is normal

Each time I have noticed this, I turned the switch off on the interface control panel but the lights remained on. Then when I turned the switch back on, the unit appears to function normally and the battery charger seems to work.

It is almost like the unit somehow trips off yet exhibits the lights as shown in 1 to 4 above.  Usually happened with several days between failures.

We have owned this coach for 13 years so know it really well but this is a new "feature".  I would guess the unit is in the process of a slow death but really want to understand this problem.

My question is: How should I go about troubleshooting this issue?  I will appreciate your thoughts.

Larry,
It sounds like you will be looking for a new inverter soon, but I would call technical support at Xantrex to see if the is a possible solution to the problem short of replacement.
