Alll,

I am lost.  Under the removable dash access panel, I find a little electronic box.  It appears to have a small indicator light just hanging and a small button switch.  This is on my 2005 Monterey.  Anyone know what this thing does?

Black, about the size of a cigarette pack, it's the lock controller for your entry and bay locks, and receives wireless remote input.  It can be reset if your remotes or entry code panel have programming faults.

Also in that cubby, just for future relevance, you should find a steel plate with a push switch and a couple other devices "mounted" on it.  The push switch is for techs to check your ABS system, and the probably loosely mounted clear cylindrical device is your signal flasher.

Thanks Joel I found that stuff today in chasing down my mirror problem.  Now I know where the flasher is

Joel,

If that is the controller for the locks, what is behind the wood panel down by the passenger seat?  That is where the button is to change the lock codes, etc?

I've never seen what's behind the copilot side box.  Access doesn't seem as easy as the driver's side.  There is a small wood cover panel, but I've never explored it and never heard of anyone else doing so, so I presume it is for switch wiring access.  The lock controller is something known to need occasional resetting, so I would expect it to be where it is, with relatively easy access under the dash port.

Joel,

I know if I have to change lock codes, there is wiring with a push button coming out of that wood panel.  Maybe I will just take it apart and see what is behind there.  Anyway that button is what I have to push to reset the lock codes.
