Generator 12VDC supply wires

Where are wire ends connected for 12vdc supply to and from generator in a 2001 38' Beaver Contessa? Generator will not start. Noting wrong with generator. it starts if jumper cables used direct from batteries.  Wired 12 VDC power to generator is only 8 VDC. Big voltage drop some place. Suspect bad or lose connection terminals some place. Cannot trace wire back from generator end because wire lost in bundled wiring group. Where does both positive connect and does negative connect to frame or engine?
Anyone have an answer?

Roland,
I would just attach a tone generator at the generator cable and trace it back from there to locate the wiring junctions. Disconnect the positive chassis battery cable to simplify the tracing process. The generator grounds to the frame.
