Oil/Tranny Fluid Check
« on: July 01, 2014, 06:06:27 PM »
Going on short trip Tomorrow.  Please refresh my memory!
Does engine and or tranny have to be at operating temp to check fluid levels?  Do I just sit in one spot with MH in gear and foot on brake to warm things up?  What temp is warm?  Thanks for help.  How do I check coolant?

Jerry,

Transmission must be warm (around 170) and will only get that way by driving for a few miles under load.  Then just push down on the UP and DOWN arrows at the same time on your shift selector.  It will count down on the display then give you the LEVEL OK or LOW indication.

The engine can be cold but must sit for a few minutes before you check and also must be level as possible.  The coolant level should be check via marks on the plastic expansion tank in the engine compartment.

Jerry,

To add to Karl mentioned, you need to have the coach be on a level area within reason front to aft and right to left to get an accurate reading. You would be sitting with the parking brake on, engine running, transmission in neutral, and then follow the instructions Karl gave.

What is the OK indication on the transmission.  It will be on the same readout as gear/D/R etc...right?

Jerry,

Yes, it will say "0L" then "0K" and repeat until you hit the "n" button.
