Coolant Level Sensor ( If Equipped ) Aftermarket add-on.
3406E, C-10, C-12, C-15 Monitoring system,standard programmable features of which
comes on engine.  Coolant temperature, Oil pressure, fuel temperature. Intake manifold
air temperature and fuel pressure.

The engine coolant temperature is measured by electronic sensor on water outlet housing.
The signal to temperature sensor is used to modify, engine fueling and engine timing. This
information is used to improve engine cold start and white smoke cleanup. This is a 5 volt
sensor is used with ECM indicating Cold Mode Operation.

Coolant Level Sensor. The coolant level sensor is purchased by OEM and installed by OEM.
And can be programmed : As Disabled, system will not monitor input from coolant level sensor.
Enabled, the system will monitor inputs from engine when shipped by engine builder.

Engine can be program to the following modes: Off, Warning, Warning Derate, Warning, Derate,
Shut down.  Warning Diagnostic Lamp turns on or buzzer.  Warning Derate warning lamp activated
warning will flash when Derating starts.  Warning, Derate, Shutdown, warning lamp on, light or
buzzer activated. ( will Derate rpm and power untill shut down.

Point want to bring out Coolant level sensor on above engines serves no value other than top
Tank is low on fluid and is not programed other wise. With Members that own  Cummins engines there
Only engine coolant protection is the coolant level sensor, and it is programed to Derate engine
rpm to 1100 rpm. Cat coolant level sensor had 2 wire sensor and a 4 wire sensor. This is a
simple problems that can bring problems for lack of understanding.Dave Atherton Retired Cat
