Passenger side, rear slide on 06 Monterey
« on: January 20, 2016, 07:27:36 PM »
I believe I have read about this issue previously but,
When my coach sits for a while, the rear passenger slide keeps creeping out.
Over a three week period, with no shore power and both masters off, the slide was completely out.

You likely have a leaking solenoid in the manifold under the right front coach corner, Dale.  You can glean some useful info from any of several threads here regarding this common malady, but this one is a good example:

Also this recent one:

Thanks for the info.  One thing that I forgot to ask is, does the slide know when to stop?  Am I going to come to the coach and find the slide laying on the ground?  Maybe that sounds funny but....

Yes, you are okay in that regard.  The slide is slinking out on only residual hydraulic pressure, and beyond that the inner frame/seal and probably other mechanical stops will limit how far the slide module can travel.

If you've read the older threads, Dale, I assume you've already tried the preliminary basic cures... after sliding it in, pop it out an inch and back in, holding the switch afterward for a couple seconds (but no longer).  Since yours slips out all the way on its own, that probably isn't the fix needed;  sounds like a new set of in/out (or at least an in) solenoid in position #2 will be necessary.

Happy Birthday Joel.  Is this something I can deal with into spring and early summer. I have the back end up on blocks while working on a dip stick tube which I have solved, I'll put the blocks under the front and check. thank you members very much. Dale Soule'

If the slide insists on still popping out, and you'd rather it stay in until you can get it to service, you should be able to stick an appropriately cut-to-length 2X4 inside on the floor between the wall and the edge of the retracted slide to keep it there.  Just remember to remove it before trying to extend it again.

That particular slide is indeed hydraulic, but unlike the other two larger ones up front, it extends less far and uses a scissor mechanism along the side walls rather than a drive system underneath;  so watch how you place the 2X4 or other brace.

Thank you so much for the suggestion.  When I get back to the motorhome, I'll see how that will work.  In the mean time, I'll not worry if it's just "one of those things".  Thanks again.
